New Delhi: Apex Child Rights Organization (COP) has asked the Ministry of Electronics and IT as to how the banned PUBG game is still available to Indian minors. Recently, discussions against PUBG will start again after a 16-year-old boy shot and killed his mother in Lucknow after stopping PUBG from playing. NCPCR has asked IT Ministry via letter why it is still accessible.Â
The teen boy who shot his mother lives in Lucknow. He kept the woman’s body hidden in a room for two days before informing his father, a West Bengal-based Army officer. He committed the crime by using his father’s licensed gun.

In the year 2020, the Center blocked many online games including PUBG. The government had admitted that this game affects the sovereignty, integrity, and defence mechanism of the country. Last week in Lucknow, a teenager killed his mother for stopping him from playing PUBG.
After this, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) wrote a letter to the secretary of the ministry saying that given this incident, the commission is unable to understand how this banned game is reaching minors even after being blocked.
PUBG Mobile, along with 117 other Chinese apps, was banned in India in 2020. The Ministry of Information and Technology deemed those apps to be detrimental to India’s sovereignty and integrity.Â
The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) wrote to the IT ministry on Tuesday, asking why the banned game was still available to children and demanding an explanation within 10 days.
