Netflix bought the Malayalam movie starring Tovino Thomas; Minnal Murali.


“We’re hoping today goes by fast because tomorrow is going to go by faster”; Netflix India tweeted about “Minnal Murali.” 

Minnal Murali is the much-awaited upcoming Malayalam superhero movie starring Tovino Thomas. The superhero film will be premiered soon on Netflix. The release date is yet to be announced by Netflix, and the fans are waiting for this. 

On Monday, the world’s most extensive subscription-based video streaming service declared that it had acquired the Malayalam superhero movie- Minnal Murali and would be “coming soon” to Netflix.

This Malayalam movie will be available in English, Hindi, Kannada, Telegu, and Tamil; Mister Murali in Hindi; Merupu Murali in Telugu, Minchu Murali in Kannada, and Minnal Murali in Tamil and Malayalam. 

 Netflix India South’s Twitter handles shared a new promo with Minnal Murali’s title written in different languages, which has already got 90k+ views.

Basil Joseph is the director of this superhero molly wood film, the director of Godha and Kunjiramayanam, who is also the close friend of Tovino Thomas. Basil Joseph- Tovino Thomas combo was already a hit in 2017 with the movie ‘Godha’. 

Sophia Paul produces this movie under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters. Sameer Thahir is the cinematographer, Vlad Rimburg is the action director, Shaan Rahman is the composer, and Livingston Mathew is the editor for this upcoming movie. ‘

Minnal Murali’ is a big-budget movie, and they have planned to release it in theatres in 2020; this pandemic circumstance forced the team to postpone it.

And now Netflix bought this film, and it’s going to have a good reach. The poster revealed by Netflix of this movie shows an energetic Tovino with a folded dhoti and a scarf covering his face. 


Tovino plays the role of the fastest man living on earth. Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan, Aju Varghese, Baiju Santhosh and Bijukuttan are featuring in significant roles. Other casts are Femina George, Sneha Babu, Shelly Nabu Kumar, etc.

 Story Plot

The story is about Jaison, in a village named Kurukkanmoola, played by Tovino Thomas. Jaison got struck with lightning, and he acquired some special powers after that. 

“From Kurukkanmoola to the world, Minnal Murali is all set to strike worldwide. Striking soon on @netflixIndia. Ithu minimum! #MinnalOnNetflix,” Tovino Thomas tweeted on his official page along with the newly released promo of Minnal Murali by Netflix.

Tovino is one of the leading Mollywood actors with massive fans. He starred in around 36 movies. ‘Kala’ is one of his latest movies. His charm and acting skills lead to an enormous crowd of fans for him. Kalki, Kilometres and kilometres, Luca, etc., are some of his other notable movies. 

“I have been so attached and committed to the character of Minnal Murali and ensure to produce the best outcome”, said Tovino on a prepared statement. He also added that he hopes that every viewer will love Minnal Murali as much as he does. 

The movie will premiere on Netflix very soon, but the official release date is yet to be announced by Netflix. The expectation is that this superhero movie may positively impact the Malayalam film industry for Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph.
