New Chinese Tower Unveiled
Briefly, this blog post is about a new Chinese tower that looks like it was intended to be the world’s tallest. However, now the title belongs to a United Arab Emirates tower that stands at 828 meters and is still under construction.
The outlook for the newly built tower like Burj Khalifa
What will soon be the world’s tallest building has been unveiled in Shanghai by Chinese real estate developer Shanghai Zhongjiang Group. Because it blocks out 80 percent of the light passing through its windows and has elevators large enough to carry 14 people at once, the eponymous skyscraper has an impressive height of 1,004 meters, or 782 feet, or about 34 floors.
That makes for some crazy views. While the building is about three times taller than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and more than twice as tall as the Empire State Building in New York, the main reason it’s called the “Sky City” is its speed in being built.
The important milestones
The project was announced by developer Zhang Yue, who said that it would be built in just 90 days. That would mean finishing all of its 1,335 apartments, a skyscraper hotel with 250 rooms and 63 meeting rooms, an opera hall, and five floors of shops and restaurants by February. The finished building could house up to 20,000 people. The tower is also expected to have an environmental impact.
It will feature solar panels and be built with a ‘double-skin’ design that includes a layer of insulation to keep the building cool in summer and warm in winter. But all that may change, as the Chinese government appears concerned by Sky City’s sky-high ambitions. The country’s top planning agency has asked the Shanghai city government to look at the project before approving it.
The End
It will be three times taller than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and more than twice as tall as the Empire State Building. The finished building could house up to 20,000 people.
