The selectors of BCCI have announced new squads for the upcoming tours of New Zealand and Bangladesh. While some players are set to rest during the New Zealand series, New young men are set to be put on the roll. This new team indeed is the start of a new era. While some big names are left out again, leaving the fans of Indian Cricket Team confused.
The Indian cricket team is now in Australia, currently playing the Men’s T20 World Cup. After the World Cup, the Indian team is set to travel to New Zealand and Bangladesh after finishing their World Cup campaigns. They have introduced new players, while some players are left out while being regular in the squad. The teams for India’s forthcoming series against Bangladesh and New Zealand have been chosen by the All-India Senior Selection Committee. The Committee has decided to follow a new strategy in the T20s. This new selection has left the Indian Cricketing fans conflicted.
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli have asked the board for rest after the World Cup, hence, the trio will not be present in the New Zealand series. The Indian Team will play 3 T20s and 3 ODIs against the Blackcaps. The series starts on 18th November 2022, with the ODIs being played from 25th November. The captain of the T20s is Hardik Pandya while Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team in the ODIs.
Hardik Pandya won’t be playing the ODIs. Rishabh Pant has got his chance to show his true form as he has been appointed as the vice-captain for the New Zealand series. M. Shami, R Ashwin, and Dinesh Karthik all are not selected for the upcoming series. On the other hand, Kuldeep Sen gets called up for this series. Umran Malik also makes the squad after missing out on the world cup squad. Shubhman Gill gets a nod for playing T20s after having a fantastic Domestic season with Punjab. Sanju Samson also got recalled into the squad and is in contention for playing the ODIs. z

Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Rishabh Pant (Vice Captain & wicket keeper), Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Surya Kumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson (wicket keeper), W Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Shahbaz Ahmed, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Sen, Umran Malik.
The batting trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul return to the squad for the Bangladesh tour. The Indian team will play 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches in Bangladesh. Rajat Patidar and Rahul Tripathi, all are selected for the Bangladesh series, whereas Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer return to the squad in December.
M Shami would reunite with the squad after missing out on the NZ series. All-rounder W Sundar also joins the team while fast bowler Yash Dayal gets a call-up. Ravindra Jadeja is in the squad subject to his availability because of the injury.

Many big names did not make the list. Likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Rana, and Prithvi Shaw have been left out of the list again. All of the three batsmen are having an extremely good domestic season. But the selectors of the BCCI have again not yet selected those three for the upcoming series. This decision has left many fans perplexed about the selection strategy.
Sarfaraz Khan is having an electric season with the Mumbai team in the Ranji trophy having scored more than six 100+ scores including a 275 against Saurashtra. Although Sarfaraz khan is confident about playing for the National team, it is indeed not this time. He took his reaction on Instagram with a photo of Sai Baba with the caption “Sai Baba is watching…”. India is set to play Bangladesh on the 2nd of November. India looks to cement its place in the final four.
