In Rajouri, Jammu, and Kashmir, a massive attack was thwarted. The assault on the military base was successfully thwarted. In the ensuing firefight, two terrorists were killed and two soldiers were hurt. Five members of the armed forces have been killed. Extra troops have been sent to the base, and the area has been sealed off. After a hard battle in Budgam, security forces were able to kill three members of the LeT. The terrorist who was slain was linked to the murders of Rahul Bhat and Amreen Bhat.
When two terrorists tried to break into an Indian army company’s base in the Darhal region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, three Indian soldiers paid the ultimate price. The security officers opened fire, killing both of the terrorists from the alleged suicide group.

Lateef Rather, the terrorist responsible for the death of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat, re-joined the LeT after serving his prison sentence.
Police say that one of the three terrorists killed in an encounter in the Budgam area of central Kashmir on Wednesday was the top terrorist commander of the TRF and was responsible for the murder of Rahul Bhat, a government employee of Kashmiri Pandit origin who had been murdered in May 2022.
A second time recycling terrorist of the LeT/TRF organisation, Lateef Rather alias Abdullah Bhai was captured by police in a terror crime case in 2001, the police said.
After being released from prison in 2013, he immediately re-entered the LeT outfit and began carrying out operations as a trusted companion of Top LeT Commander Abu Qasim.
Eight members of the Army were killed in a fidayeen attack on June 24, 2013, in the Hyderpora area, and police say he was behind it.
In addition, “in 2013, he plotted, planned, and murdered Station House Officer of the Chadoora police station, martyred Sub-Inspector Shabir Ahmed.”
In the years that followed, police re-arrested Lateef in 2013 and brought him to trial for his role in a number of terrorist crimes; he was eventually released from prison in November 2021.
In February of 2022, after serving his sentence, Lateef returned to Srinagar to resume his post as TRF Commander and serve for the LeT/TRF unit he had previously left.
According to the police, “Throughout 2022, slain terrorist Lateef Rather carried out various terror acts and civilian atrocities, including the death of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat and an artiste Amreen Bhat in Chadoora area, under the directives of his Pakistan-based handler Sajjad Gul.”
