NITI Aayog Member of Health Dr.Vinod Kumar Paul says that the covid-19 surge in India has been settled but reminded that there is still a significant no. of cases. Â
NITI Aayog Dr.Paul recommended being prepared for any eventuality and hoped that the guards would not be reduced. He emphasizes that the COVID-19 surge in India has subsided but underlines that a significant number of cases is still prevalent, speaking to ANI.
“We can see that the surge has subsided, but we should also know that there is a large no. of cases. Hopefully, it will continue, but we cannot let our guard down. It must be closely watched whether we are in any way ready for the eventuality.”
According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 25,920 new Covid cases with 492 additional deaths in the last 24 hours. Significantly, the new cases saw a drop of 16%, and the no. of active cases in the country currently stands at 2,92,092.
Apart from this, India’s recovery rate is 98.12%, and 66,254 patients recovered from the infection on Friday.Â
Speaking on the vaccine development in India, Dr.Paul said that the govt. had invited foreign vaccine manufacturers to develop an indigenous vaccine in collaboration with Indian Scientists.
“Later, they manufactured the vaccines and offered us to buy them demanding sovereign immunity exemption, but this was not acceptable to the govt., as he told to ANI.Â
