Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session which begins on Friday, 25 March 2022, will continue till March 31, 2022. However, the state budget will be revealed on March 30. Reportedly, the 9th session of the 16th Assembly of Odisha has begun with Governor’s address today. On March 26 and 28, a two-day discussion on the Governor’s Address will take place. Official business will be tabled the next day, and Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will introduce the budget on March 30.
Six-day budget session of the Assembly, which begins on Friday, is expected to be tumultuous, as the oppositions prepare to attack BJD over allegations that certain ruling party bigwigs’ involvement in the death of cameraman Manas Ranjan Swain.
Apart from that, the session will focus on the condemnable violence during panchayat elections and the rampant behaviour of expelled BJD MLA Prashanta Jagadev from Chilika in front of the Banpur block office, during which he rammed his car into a crowd, injuring many people.
Senior BJP leader Mohan Charan Majhi said to the media, party members will raise the matter of the alleged involvement of some ruling party ministers in the cameraman’s murder during the session. Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Narasingha Mishra, told, that the unprecedented violence during the panchayat elections, deteriorating law and order situation, and the alleged involvement of ministers in the murder of the cameraman will be the major issues during the session.
In addition, hikes in the prices of petroleum products will also be raised, along with the farmers’ unsold paddy. The Odisha Legislative Assembly, in particular, has started a YouTube channel.
