Omar Abdullah Labels Yoga Event at Sufi Saint Shrine a “Photo Op”
Omar Abdullah, a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, targeted the International Yoga Day.
The was event held on the grounds of the shrine of the Sufi saint Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, also known as Sheikh-Ul-Alam and Alamdar-e-Kashmir, in Charar-e-Shareef in the central Kashmir Budgam region and Omar Abdullah called it a “photo-op.”
In honor of the International Day of Yoga, the Army conducted a yoga class for students on Wednesday in cooperation with the government hosted at the Charar-e-Sharief shrine in Budgam, Kashmir.
The location for a yoga day picture op is one of our most renowned saints’ graves!” Abdullah, the vice president of the National Conference (NC), stated in a tweet.
Another person who objected to the event was Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu, who described it as “completely hare-brained.”
It was very foolish and careless to decide to host a function at Sheikh-Ul-Alam (RA), the mausoleum of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani.
Social activists
Tahir Peerzada, a socio-political activist, claimed that it was an intentional attempt to offend people’s religious sensibilities.
This is an intentional attempt to harm the feelings and sentiments of the majority population! But! Do they realize that HIS life is an example of peace and brotherhood?
He concurred on Twitter, writing, “The concerned Tahsildar or SDM who allowed this to happen should be sacked!”
Another Twitter user name withheld said the drill was “outrageous.” It is shocking that the authorities chose to utilize Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani’s final burial place in Kashmir for a photo op.
The foremost Kashmiri Sufi wali, Sheikh-ul-Alam, “preached monotheism throughout his life and summarised the Holy Qur’an in his poetry,’ he stated.
Condemned by suspended IPS officer Rath
The “Singham of Kashmir,” suspended IPS officer Basant Rath, has harshly criticized former J&K CM Omar Abdullah and Srinagar Mayor Junaid Mattu for their efforts to politicize the Yoga session held at a Kashmiri Islamic shrine.
Rath, who left the elite service last year but is still waiting for approval, charged both leaders with widespread corruption.
He urged them to concentrate on helping the people in their communities rather than waste time on Twitter trying to establish their genuine Muslim identity.
He also accuses them of deceiving the Kashmiri people over the years.
The mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattu, tweeted his disapproval of the event, calling it “an absolutely hare-brained, inconsiderate idea to organize a demonstration at the shrine of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, Sheikh-Ul-Alam (RA)”.
I’m a huge fan of yoga, however, this is quite challenging. The utmost sensitivity should be used while handling sacred sites.
Basant Rath, an Inspector General (IG) from Odisha who has since been suspended, responded by saying Abdullah, the vice president of the J&K National Conference, was accountable for the sufferings that the common people of Kashmir.
“Omar must answer my 13 queries. BJP, which is currently in power, organized a yoga event there.
If this has upset you, kindly state in writing that your party would never enter a coalition with the BJP.
Your hands are soiled with the blood of innocent Kashmiri Muslims and Pandits, I can prove to you in writing,” he claimed.
The IPS officer who plans to join the BJP said, “180 children were slain within a year while Omar was the chief minister.
The Public Safety Act (PSA), which was eventually invalidated by the courts and revealed to be false, led to the wrongful imprisonment of several persons. Will he respond to these queries?
Omar Abdullah was also questioned by Rath on his alleged influence in favoring one business over another for the delivery of water to the Vaishno Devi shrine.
He emphasized that the Congress and Kashmir’s Muslim leaders’ activities were responsible for some of the violence in the area.
