The 26-party alliance between the opposition offers a scathing attack on the NDA led government BJP and PM Narendra Modi, in the Parliament over the recent row about Manipur Violence. The alliance announces a No Confidence motion against Narendra Modi , Under rule 198(1) in the Lok Sabha.
INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), a 26-party led alliance between the opposition parties is openly criticising and condemning the barbarous acts committed in Manipur, and the NDA’s absolute silence on the same. This comes after a recent viral video that shows two Kuki women being paraded naked in Manipur by a crowd of men. This heinous crime has taken the country by uproar highlighting the abhorrent acts being committed in Manipur over the last few months.
The opposition sparked heated arguments in the Monsoon session of the Parliament demanding PM Modi to speak about Manipur and BJP’s failure in restoring peace in the North-eastern State. They strongly highlight the necessity of PM Modi’s address in the Parliament and are proposing to file a No confidence motion on Wednesday regarding the same. Trinamool Congress’s Derek O’ Brien tweeted about the motion and said “Picture abhi baki hai”. The motion is expected to be submitted by July 27 in the parliament. He also asked PM Narendra Modi to discuss the issue inside the Parliament rather than making statements outside of it. “Prioritise people over politics”, said the Rajya Sabha leader.
Home minister Amit Shah tried to give a parliamentary speech in the session last week, following which he also claims to have written letters to the opposition leaders. Later, he expressed his disapproval of the alliance on twitter calling it a “propaganda” led act. Writing to Mallikarjun Kharge and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Shah expressed the NDA’s compliance to hold talks about the issue.
While the Prime Minister has not addressed the Parliament as yet, slammed the opposition at the BJP Parliamentary meeting. He called the opposition “directionless”, “aimless” and the name selected for the alliance is a method to “mislead” the citizens of the country. Furthermore, he commented that the opposition’s choice to name itself INDIA does not prove their dedication to the country: East India Company, India Mujahideen and Popular Front of India also mention the name of the country but hold an intent to “loot” it.
The Congress has called a meeting on Wednesday 10:30 AM, according to an MP from the same party. For the no confidence motion to hold legal standing in the parliament, signatures of about 50 MPs are important. If the Speaker Om Birla approves this, it would be the second No confidence Motion against PM Modi in the parliament.
As per the Rule 198(1) of the constitution, the member filing the motion requires a permitted leave by the Speaker by 10 AM on the same day. In case more than 50 people rise in favour of the leave, the Speaker shall be obliged to grant it and the MP can file the No confidence motion after the allotment of a day’s time to discuss it.
As per reports, all parties are on board for the motion.
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh bashed the opposition by deeming it’s nomenclature as an unsuccessful attempt to hide its inconsistencies and corrupt “games”.
Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge lashed out at the PM over his criticism of the selected name for the alliance and quashed his claims of calling the opposition imperialistic. Continually attacking the BJP, he further demanded the Prime Minister to speak about Manipur in the Parliament. Rahul Gandhi also befitted a reply to the Prime Minister.
