Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif comments on MS Dhoni’s wicketkeeping skills. Says, “Dhoni is a very big name. But if I go into stats.”
Rashid Latif, a former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper, has suggested that Dhoni was not a terrific wicketkeeper. Latif even provided evidence to back up his assertion. “Dhoni was a batsman-wicket keeper. Obviously, Dhoni is a very big name. But if I go into stats, his dropping percentage is 21 percent, which is huge, huge,” Latif said on his official YouTube channel.
Latif also stated that statistics to assess a keeper’s success arrived much later. He claimed that Australian icon Adam Gilchrist and former South Africa star Mark Boucher were both excellent wicketkeepers.

“You can’t use my record because this particular record came into being from 2002 or 2003. We had already played by then. Adam Gilchrist had a percentage of only 11, Mark Boucher was very good. Australia’s Tim Paine started well but towards the end dropped a lot of catches,” Latif said.
Latif went on to say that South Africa’s Quinton De Kock is the finest wicketkeeper right now. “If you look at the best in the last 15 years, then I would say Quinton de Kock is superb, has kept in all three formats and batted at the top of the order in white ball cricket,” the ex-captain concluded.
MS Dhoni retired as one of the top wicket keepers in the world, in addition to being regarded as one of the best leaders. In his 15-year career, he was responsible for 829 dismissals, trailing just Adam Gilchrist and Mark Boucher.
India’s former captain has 195 stumpings in his career, the most in cricket history across all formats. Furthermore, the 41-year-old, who captains the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL, holds the record for the fastest stumping with a time of 0.08 seconds.
Dhoni astonished the world when he stumped West Indies’ Keemo Paul in an ODI match in Mumbai in 2018. He was really quick to remove the bails, almost before Paul could register it in his head.
