While facing a resurgence in terror incidents, Pak PM promises to deal with terrorism with iron fists. On Wednesday, in the state-run Radio Pakistan, PM Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that the state would not bow down to any militant group.

Authority would tackle terrorism using iron fists amid the ongoing chaos in Islamabad. Criticizing the issues of the Bannu Hostage crisis and terrorist movement near Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PM Sharif showed grief to the dead and paid tribute to the armed forces who died fighting the terrorists.
Operations Zarb-e-Azb And Radd-ul-Fasaad Be Used As Iron Fist Against Terrorism?
According to The News International, Sharif’s Government would eradicate the external support provided to the militant groups as terrorism is a sensitive issue for national security. To eliminate the militant chaos, PM has called for two major operations, i.e. Operations Zarb-e-Azb And Radd-ul-Fasaad.
Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad combines military operations with local law enforcement agencies and the Pakistani military to disband terrorist sleeper cells across the country.
On the other hand, Operation Zarb-e-Azb, which ran till February 2017, was a joint military function against various military groups, including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al-Qaeda, Jundallah, Haqqani Network, and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
Without a joint strategy with the states of Pakistan and the local law enforcement forces, the federal government can not make considerable efforts to fight against the militant groups. Sharif added that it was high time to increase the capacity and multiply the efficiency of the Federal Government to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.

Pakistan is generally termed “state-sponsored terrorism.” Multiple times, Pakistan has been accused of involvement in various terrorist activities in the local province and beyond by its neighboring countries (India, Iran, Afghanistan), the UK, USA, France, and Germany. However, after remaining under strict monitoring from 2012 to 2015, in October 2022, after four years from 2018, Pakistan was removed from the FATF’s Grey List.
The ongoing terrorist movements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and increased attacks on security forces have been a highlight to the world. Meanwhile, according to some news reports, many high-profile political personalities have also been seen in those areas.
What Is The Bannu Hostage Crisis In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province?
On Tuesday, after a forty-hour-long operation, Pakistan’s Special Army Force killed 33 militants in a crossfire who had taken hostages from the local people. The local Taliban militants captured a fortified counter-terrorism center in Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The mechanism to combat terrorism was nil due to the lack of capacity, weapons, manpower, and resources. The investigation revealed that it was almost impossible for CTD (Counter-Terrorism Department) to fight against terrorism at that moment as an individual organization.

On the basis of a video message circulation on social media, the Taliban Militants wanted to be airlifted to Afghanistan, or they would kill officers and the hostages. Since last month, the movements of the Pakistani Taliban have increased. The Pakistani Taliban is a separate group from the parents Taliban Group, but it is allied with the Afghan Taliban, who seized the authority of Afghanistan after the stepped down of the Nato and USA troops.

After the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attack on CTD, the TTP has taken hostage many security personnel as well. In the current crisis, the Pakistani police are on high alert. Areas, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Peshawar, the Mardan region, and the southern region, are on red alert. Additional police personnel was also arranged to guard several politicians under several threats.
