On the 3rd of April Pakistan will vote for a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan, Prime Minister. The Opposition seeks Imran Khan’s ouster as they have been confident that its motion would be carried by many PTI lawmakers.
On Tuesday, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad Pakistan Interior Minister put forward that the discourse up in the air on the no-trust motion against Imran Khan, Prime Minister will start on 31 March in the National Assembly. In addition to this voting is going to be held on 3 April.
Bilawal Bhutto, PPP chairman tweeted “The MQM and the united opposition have set foot on an agreement. PPP CEC and Rabta committee MQM will ratify the said agreement. We will then share details with the media in a press conference tomorrow IA. Congratulations Pakistan.”
As per the Pakistani News portal, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Pakistan Interior Minister said that after the peaceful public gathering, now the containers which were put for security have been removed and roads are cleared for traffic.
Even Rasheed also praised PML-Q’s stance and said that “he hoped MQM-P will also support the government.” Further, he added that “the security forces arrested four terrorists harboring nefarious designs. He maintained that the arrested terrorists will be tried in anti-terrorism courts.”
On the 8th of March, the no-confidence motion was submitted by the Opposition parties. The Opposition has strong confidence that its motion would be carried as many PTI lawmakers have come out in the open against Khan.
The Pakistani National Assembly has a total strength of 342 members, with the majority mark being 172. The PTI-led coalition was formed with the support of 179 members, but now, after MQM-P left the party, PTI is standing with 164 members in support and the Opposition has now 177 members of supporters in the national assembly and they don’t need the support of disgruntled PTI MNAs.
In contrast, Imran Khan professed that some people are trying to topple his government with the help of foreign funds. Asad Umar federal minister proclaimed that Imran is ready to show a letter to Umar Ata Bandial the Chief Justice of Pakistan to back his claims.
