Paris’s iconic department store will be soon coming to Mumbai and Delhi. The Aditya Birla group is headed for a collaboration with the store to open luxury stores in the country.
“Galeries Lafayette” and its rising popularity
Galleries Lafayette is an upmarket French departmental store chain. It initially operated in France but now has more than sixty locations all over the country.
It is the biggest in Europe and was built over 125 years ago. The store is home to more than a hundred luxury fashion brands that offer couture blended with ready-to-wear options.
The store is situated on Boulevard Haussman and is one of the most popular and chic shopping centers in Paris.
The mall features numerous renowned fashion brands like Armani, Balenciaga, Burberry, Bulgari, Calvin Klein, Céline, and Dior.
These brands recently debuted at the Golden Globe Awards. The architecture of the building is nouveau style and features a restaurant and bars that offer a spectacular view of the Eiffel tower. Both elements are located in the heart of the dome-like structure of the store.
The store is all set to two more stores in its list of 65 stores worldwide: Mumbai and Delhi.
Brands expected to be a part of Indian “Galeries Lafayette”
The brand revealed that the new outlets of the same chain will be completed in 2025. The locations of both outlets would be New Delhi and Mumbai.
Location of new stores
The group is expected to open the store primarily in the capital and the “City of dreams.”
Mumbai
The Mumbai one is set to open its door to the public in early 2024. The heritage building of the outlet is reportedly been designed by an architectural firm that is highly experienced in building departmental stores worldwide and has an extensive network of people in the same domain: Virgile & Partners.
The 90,000 square feet structure will be situated across the heart of Fort and will be a gateway for high-end designers in the upcoming years.
Delhi
Another branch of the same departmental store will be established in New Delhi. It is set to function in one of the most popular shopping places: DLF Emporio. And will begin operating in 2025 and will spread across 65,000 feet in the luxury mall.
The managing director of the company recently gave insights on the construction of the same and said
“ This is a coming-of-age moment for Indian luxury. India is now home to a generation of young and affluent consumers with global exposure, who are willing to spend on the finer things in life. This is visible in the boom and dynamism of the luxury market. The partnership with Galeries Lafayette is a ringing endorsement of India’s significance as a global luxury market and a future engine of growth for luxury brands.”
In the same context, the CEO of Galeries Lafayette commented,
“We are proud to expand our international footprint in such a prestigious and refined market as India, where we believe our brand can benefit from a strong potential. It is also a new illustration of our ambition to reach 20 stores abroad, with a primary focus on China, Asia, and the Middle East by 2025. We are very pleased to be working with Aditya Birla Group on this project, with whom we share the same values and vision on retail, and are convinced that they are the right partner to enable us to meet the expectations of Indian customers.”
The Galeries was always a treat to visit and experience the same. And for Indian customers to experience the same here along with Indian designers to be able to expand their collections in the famous Parisian store is no less than a dream come true.
The foundation of the Paris store adapted with added elements of our personalized tastes and styling will surely make a newly established chain of stores a success.
