PM Modi inaugurated the Mopa International Airport in Goa on Sunday. The field has been named after former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Stressing the Centre’s works in boosting air connectivity across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday vocalised that in the last eight years, India has produced every workable effort to upgrade’ Ease of Travel’ for travellers .
The foundation stone of the airport was placed by PM Modi in November 2016. This will be the second airport in Goa, the first one being located atDabolim.Addressing the crowd here, PM Modi said that he was happy that this International Airport in Mopa, Goa has been named after Late Manohar Parrikar Ji and the approach towards creating a framework has changed, with this administration. He further said that the airport embarked today is a great example of this.
After Inauguration, PM Modi said that India has now become the third- largest aeronautics market in the world. He further said that India has made every possible trouble to enhance’ ease of trip’ for travellers in the last eight years. It has streamlined the visa procedure, increased the visa- on- arrival facility.
The PM said Udan Yojana has revolutionised air connectivity across the country and it took the action to take air trips to the smallest metropolises of the country. He further emphasised that the airfield network in the country has been expanded and 72 airfields have been constructed in the last eight years.

It was also stated that for the first time in the country, two airports have been established in a city. Under the former government, not even a single airport was constructed in a year. Wherever there will be a twin engine administration, development will transpire.The new international airport is located in the northern portion of Goa, around 35 km from Panaji, the capital city of the state.
Developed at an expense of around Rs,870 crore, the airport is constructed on the theme of sustainable infrastructure.
As per an authorised statement from the government, the development of a Greenfield airport at Mopa, Goa is an esteemed project being evolved by the State Government of Goa under public-private- partnership( PPP) mode at a modified sanctioned project cost of Rs,870 crore.
The in-principle approval to Goa government for setting up a Greenfield airport at Mopa village was allowed by the Centre in March 2000. According to sanctioned information, the airport is anticipated to upgrade the socio- profitable evolution of the state and meet the demands of the tourism industry.
