The Four-lane expressway inaugurated by PM Modi on Saturday in UP which will boost connectivity and employment.
PM Narendra Modi has unveiled the 296km four-lane Bundelkhand expressway in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh which has been built worth Rs 14,850 crore. The construction of the expressway was completed in just 28 months which is 8 months in advance ahead of its deadline.
The foundation stone of the Bundelkhand expressway was laid by PM Modi in Feb 2020. Bundelkhand expressway has been constructed under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh expressways industrial development authority (UPEIDA). The four-lane expressway can be later expendable up to six lanes with 3.75m wide service lane on one side.
It is the fourth expressway project in Uttar Pradesh which will cover seven districts: Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, and Chitrakoot. The inauguration of the new expressway will cut long hours of 630km distance between Delhi and Chitrakoot in just 6 hours.
Bundelkhand Expressway :
This expressway will connect Chirtrakoot in the underdeveloped Bundelkhand region with the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Etawah.
The inauguration of new expressway was held at kaitheri village in Orai tehsil of jalaun district of UP where a Yogi Adityanath accompanied PM Modi. During the event, PM Modi said that it will boost connectivity, industrial development, and employment, in the largely rural region.
The new expressway extends from national highway (NH)35 at Gonda village near Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot district to Kudrail village in Etawah district, where it merges with the Agra-Lucknow expressway.
In the 2022-23 budget allocated highest amount of Rs 1.99 lakh crore to the ministry of road transport and highways which jumps over 550 per cent when compared to the allocation of about Rs 30,300 crore in 2013-14. In the past seven years, the length of national highways in the country has gone up by more than 50 percent from 91,287km(as on April 2014) to around 1,41000km(as on December 31,2021).
On Saturday PM Modi invited to the inauguration event in Jalaun district, where he addressed the crowd on the new expressway bringing industrial boom in the region. He assured the public about improving the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh along with connectivity.
“The expressway will ensure seamless connectivity and further economic progress in the region. It will not only facilitate the people of Bundelkhand to reach Delhi but will also accelerate industrial development.” PM Modi said
In his address, he mentioned “it is the Modi and Yogi government bringing development not just to cities but to villages. The way UP is modernizing today under the double engine government, it is unprecedented.”
Further officials added that the Modi government has always emphasized greatly on connectivity and infrastructure. The government will set industrial corridors in Banda and Jalaun districts, next to the expressway. The work on the corridors has already been started.
The expressway will add a new dimension to the economy of Bundelkhand and of the state.
