PM Modi is a leader who has remained in power for 21 consecutive years. First 13 years, he was the Chief Minister (CM) of Gujarat and now he is occupying the post of Prime Minister (PM) for 8 years. He has been in power for two decades. The reason behind this is his strategy to work 24×7. It is said that he did not take leave for a single day in the last 21 years. PM Modi has developed this special kind of culture in politics. In this way, he has set another example of a leader’s career. He is a proactive leader who has a vision of development.
Under the leadership of PM Modi India became the 5th largest economy by nominal GDP and purchasing power parity. He launched schemes like Jan Dhan, Mudra Yojana, Jan Suraksha Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ujala Yojana, BHIM UPI, PM Awas Yojana, Saubhagya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and PM Kisan Yojana, etc. These schemes are a big step towards guaranteeing financial inclusion to all sections.
Modi’s Political Journey
1967– 17 years old Modi reached Ahmedabad and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh there. Before joining active politics, Modi was a publicist (pracharak) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for many years.
1980- He joined the Gujarat unit of BJP.
1988-89 – He became the General Secretary of the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party
1995- He became the National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the party in charge of five states.

Leadership in BJP
His captivating appeal has brought the biggest prestige to the BJP at the national level. He has tried to take the party forward by giving the basic mantra of ‘Service Hi Sangathan’. PM Modi started the trend in the party that preparations should not stop even after the results are out. He taught that election preparations are important to the party’s work. It is a result of Modi’s strategy that the BJP’s election preparations are raising challenges for the opposition parties.

Gujarat CM
Modi took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time on 7 October 2001. After this, in the 2007 assembly elections, he made the development of Gujarat an issue and then returned after winning. Then in 2012 also, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the BJP was victorious in the Gujarat assembly elections.
How was Modi selected as a CM candidate?
Mr. Modi was given the responsibility of serving as Chief Minister of Gujarat at a time when voices of discontent were rising within the BJP. In such a situation, Modi, leading three successive governments in Gujarat, prepared a solid base to challenge the hegemony of the Congress at the Center.
How Modi became BJP’s PM candidate
After winning the Gujarat elections 4 times(2002–2014), he set up an example of success and the BJP seeks this as an opportunity.
