Introduction:
For some time now there have a lot of rumors and speculation about the prospect of Prashant Kushore joining the Congress party. As per latest tweets by both himself and the Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, he has declined the party’s offer to come on board.
He had been invited to join the party as part of the empowered action group with defined responsibility. Mr. Kishore in his tweet mentioned that the party needs leadership and collective will to fix deep-rooted structural problems through transformational reforms.
Kishor had been asked by Congress President, Madam Sonia Gandhi to join the party and be a part of the Empowered Action Group 2024 and take care of the election strategy for upcoming polls.
Offer Declined:
Kishor had given a through and detailed presentation before the party leadership and it was discussed at length by senior leadership of the party, after which an offer was made to him.
Within some minutes of the party announcement about his decision not to join the party, Mr. Kishor himself took to twitter and tweeted about the situation.
“I declined the generous offer of Congress to join the party as part of the EAG and take responsibility for the elections. In my humble opinion, more than me the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep rooted structural problems through transformational reforms,”
Kishor said in a tweet.
Kishor had earlier expressed his willingness to join the party and keeping in with that given a detailed presentation to the party leadership.
Why offer declined
Sources suggest the reason for hin not joining the Congress was the pact signed by his company I-PAC with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for the Telangana assembly elections which was viewed by the Congress leadership as a conflict of interest.
Kishor has been engaged by Mamata Banerjee’s TMC in West Bengal as well as Nitish Kumar’s JD-U in Bihar for the upcoming election management.

Conclusion:
It is for sure that the impact of this decision will be felt on the party in the days to come. The party had formed a separate panel group on his recommendation and on the basis of his presentation but since his decision to not join the party the existence of the said group comes into question as well.
This is also refelctive of the Congress party’s intra – party issues and the rapidly declining people’s trust in the party. It remains to be seen what happens in the coming elections, given the fact that the party’s performance in the last few elections has been anything but good.
Abysmal might be a word suitable to be used. Mr. Kishor further brings down the prospects of the Congress party along with what it can hope to achieve in the incoming elections. Is it safe to say that the party is leading to it’s end, it’s death?
We shall see what time has in store for them as well as for everyone who gets effected , one way or another.
