Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 21, Thursday held a meeting with the heads of the Indian missions at its’ 10th (HoMs) conference, where he highlighted the country’s foreign policy vision. These heads of the Indian Missions were all across the globe and attended the conference in Kevadia, Gujarat.
The interaction holds great significance, especially at a time when there is turmoil in international politics and geopolitics equations are changing. The central topics of the conference included discussions on the foreign policy of India. Meanwhile, several other issues were also outlined in the meet including, including contemporary geopolitics, and the geo-economic environment.
The conference which is to be conducted three days (October 20 – 22), comprises a total of twenty-three sessions with in-depth discussions on the aforementioned topics.
Based on their home states, more than 100 Indian heads dissect into different groups. According to information presented by The Economic Times, these heads of Indian mission also paid visits to their respective ‘Aspirational districts’, monitoring the improvements.
What are Aspirational districts?
These are the regions of India, highly impacted by poor socio-economic indicators. To uplift these districts, the Government of India brought up the ‘Aspirational District Programme’ in January 2018, which aimed at improving and upgrading the living standards of people.
NITI Aayog is the parent advisory which implements the programme with assistance provided by the stakeholders.
HoMs play a crucial role in these programmes by looking over the development as well as suggesting measures for the same. The other focus key areas of the programme include – health & nutrition, education, Agriculture & Water Resources, Financial inclusion & Skill development and basic infrastructure.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Culture was also among the dignitaries who attended the meeting.

What is the Amrit Sarovar Mission?
Launched on April 24, 2022, the primary vision of the mission is to conserve water for the future generation while raising awareness on the matter. This mission is a part of the 75th year of Independence, India celebrated this year.
