During the Budget presentation by his government on Tuesday, February 7, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the interests of the poor have always been at the heart of every Budget he has presented.

At the first meeting of the BJP parliamentary party after the Union Budget was presented on February 1, he said no one was referring to it as a Chunavi Budget (budget influenced by polls) despite the fact that it was the last full-fledged budget before the next Lok Sabha elections.
A series of proposals have been made based on the overall development of the country and based on the interests of each section of society, he said.

The prime minister also requested that MPs, especially those from cities, take the initiative to organize sports meets. He noted that there is a perception that the youth in those cities are not much involved in sports.
I am sure that foreign guests who have visited India for various G20 meetings have appreciated the way they have been organized by the country, he added.
In his statement, the Prime Minister also stated that India is extending all possible support to the victims of the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria last week.
He stated that an Indian team is on its way with all necessary help.
Mr. Modi also mentioned the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, stressing the magnitude of the catastrophe and how he could identify to the situation in these nations.
