Bhagwant Mann took his oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday, March 16.
As soon as he took the oath, Mann went out to fulfil his duties as the state’s CM.
Carrying forward those duties, Mann announced the names of the 10 MLAs who will become part of his cabinet.
These new cabinet ministers are scheduled to take their oath of office at Raj Bhawan in the state on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Mann again put the public in for a surprise, as out of the 10 ministers, 8 are first-timers and only two are repeated.
Only Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA from Dirba, and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, who won from Barnala, have been chosen. The rest will be new MLAs.
Mann also tweeted the names of the minsters.
The Cabinet
The names of these eight ministers chosen by Mann to be in his Cabinet are:
1. Malout’s Dr. Baljit Kaur
2. Harbhajan Singh, ETO from Jandiala
3. Mansa’s Dr. Vijay Singla,
4. Bhoa’s Dr. Lal Chand Kataru Chak
5. Kuldip Singh Dhaliwal, from Ajnala,
6. Laljit Singh Bhullar, from Patti,
7. Hoshiarpur’s Bram Shankar (Jimpa) and
8. Harjot Singh Bains, from Anandpur Sahib.
All these 8 ministers are being called the “giant-killers” for the party.
For now, only 10 names have been announced. Mann can have a total of 17 ministers in his cabinet. The Punjab assembly has 117 members.
In the party’s first list, four SCs have been accommodated.
After the swearing-in ceremony, the cabinet is scheduled to have its first meeting, where important decisions like approval of the excise policy vote on the account budget are to be discussed.
Kultar Singh Sandhwan, an AAP MLA from Kotkapura, has been nominated as the next speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
He took to Twitter to show his gratitude towards the decision.
