On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a motorcycle ride from Leh to Pangong Tso. Gandhi paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary, on Sunday.

Rahul Gandhi drove his motorcycle on the eve of the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister and his father- Rajiv Gandhi. On Sunday morning, he attended a tribute ceremony held on the shores of the Pangong Tso, located at a height of 14,721 feet above sea level.
Vikar Rasool Wani, the President of Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress in a statement given to the press agency ANI, reminisced about the sacrifice that Rajiv Gandhi made for his country. He added that they had all gathered there on the occasion of his birth anniversary to remember him.
Rahul Gandhi shared a video edit of a few photographs on X and captioned it in Hindi. In the caption, Mr. Gandhi has spoken about the dreams that his father had for this country. He also added that his path for the betterment of India lies in the footsteps of his father. In the caption, he claimed that he understands the struggles of each Indian and that he can hear Mother India’s voice.
Rahul Gandhi is Touring Ladakh:
This is Mr. Gandhi’s first tour of Ladakh after it was carved out of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, as a union territory. The decision of making Ladakh a UT in August 2019, after J&K’s special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was revoked.
According to the information provided by Tsering Namgyal to the news agency PTI, is expected that Rahul Gandhi will be traveling to the Kargil District next week. He reached Leh last Thursday for a two-day visit and decided to extend his visit by four more days. He is likely to cover the areas around Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, and the Kargil district. Namgyal is the Leader of the Opposition and Congress Spokesperson in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC).
Rahul Gandhi took a bike ride of 130 KM from Leh to Pangong and stayed overnight at a height of 14,721 ft. above sea level before paying a token of respect to his father on Sunday morning. He expected to leave for Nubra Valley today and return to Leh on Monday. After Nubra Valley, his next pit stop would be at Kargil.
Rahul Gandhi took to Instagram to share pictures of his bike riding adventure on the lovely roads of Ladakh and captioned it saying that he was on the way to Pangong which according to his father is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Rahul Gandhi’s Ladakh expedition might have a political motif.
Although the members of Congress indicated that this tour of Ladakh was not a political visit, Rahul Gandhi’s presence in Kargil ahead of the September 10 polls of LAHDC can be treated as a political move from Congress’ side.
Rahul Gandhi on his arrival at Leh was greeted by party workers as well. He is also scheduled to interact with the local shopkeepers in Kargil. During his stay in Leh, Rahul Gandhi visited a couple of football matches at local clubs. He is expected to interact with the youth as well.
After paying a floral tribute to his father on his 79th birth anniversary Rahul Gandhi was heard taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claims that no piece of land was lost to the Chinese near the Pangong. While speaking to the reporters, Rahul Gandhi has spoken about the fact that the locals near Pangong have told him that the Chinese have entered and occupied their land.
