Multiple missile hits by Russia in Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine have stopped two power plants and a motor factory on fire. Explosions caused by Russian missiles have stopped two boiler (power) plants in Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine, reported European media outlet Nexta.
The fire broke out after a Russian attack on a training building outside the perimeter of the plant, according to a statement by Ukraine’s state emergency service. Â
It also reported a fire, presumably at a motor plant, after a series of explosions in the city. It reported that explosions were heard in the Dnipro, Rivne and Volyn regionsÂ
Nexta posted several photos of the huge blaze on the city skyline with plumes of black smoke rising. Talks between Ukraine and Russia’s foreign ministers on Thursday failed to bring any respite in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.Â
As Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine entered the 16th day, more than two million people have fled the country, while several cities are under siege. Russian oligarchs were hit with more sanctions amid global outrage over the bombing of a hospital in Mariupol, which wounded 17 civilians.Â
President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who called for a halt to fighting at the Zaporizhia’s nuclear plant.
