A day after BJP’s record victory in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav went to Twitter on Friday and thanked the people who voted for his party and made it achieve the second position in the election polls.
He also tweeted that, ‘the Samajwadi party has shown BJP that their seat count can be decreased,’ after his party failed to stop its rival from returning to power.
He also mentioned how his party’s seat increased by 2.5 times and the votes increased by 1.5 times, and how the fall of BJP will continue.
He said that “Our struggle for public welfare will continue”

Samajwadi party against BJP
- The Samajwadi Party won 111 seats out of a total of 403 on Thursday as BJP returned to power with 255 seats, while its allies only got 18.
- In 2017, BJP has secured 325 seats along with its allies, but Yadav’s party had got only 47 seats in the last election.
- While BJP’s vote share has been 41.3 percent, the Samajwadi party also managed to claim 32.1 percent this time, which is not bad considering the massive support that BJP received.
- Akhilesh Yadav had been on and about for the past few months, tirelessly campaigning against BJP, and had also received support from other leaders.
- But even after putting in so much effort, he could not make his mark in the hearts of the people of UP the way BJP and Yogi Adityanath did.
- Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar sent out a message to Yadav on Thursday, as soon BJP’s victory in UP became evident after the start of counting of votes.
- He said that ‘Yadav is not at fault, he contested on his own and should not focus much to the results as he is bigger than that and has come a long way.
