Samsung will extend its stylus feature to its other smartphone series
The South Korean tech firm Samsung unveiled its latest lineup of smartphones and devices on Wednesday. From the launch, it is evident that they’re changing their strategy as they take on their biggest competitor, Apple.
They’ve released their premium foldable Galaxy Z series as they hope to gain leverage over iPhones in the smartphone market.
The electronic conglomerate has discontinued the Note series, which extended till the Note 20 Ultra, and instead have decided to add the stylus feature to a broader spectrum of Samsung devices.
In its recent S22 launch, the Ultra model has been provided with the versatile S Pen, hence resulting in a smartphone akin to the concept of the Note.
T M Roh, Samsung’s mobile chief, stated that in the near term, their operation would focus on a two-track strategy: flagship S series in the first six months and innovative foldable lineup in the second half.
He mentioned that the firm would introduce a couple of smartphone form factors in the next few years.
The chief observed that the pandemic had catalysed the evolution of smartphones along with the market. Consumers are now opting for better smartphones with more functions and capabilities to suit their video calls and work-from-home needs.
Foldables offer customers unique incentive as its diversity makes it stand out from the rest of the industry.Â
According to Roh, the risk of releasing the foldables was a smart strategy that has immensely boosted the firm’s sales. Other smartphone manufacturers are catching up on the trend, as seen in the utilization of Samsung flexible displays in the Oppo Find N.
As is the case with all major tech firms, Samsung is aggressively pursuing its investments and research in artificial intelligence and the metaverse.
Despite being tight-lipped about the projects, Roh indicated that Samsung has increased its expenditure in the process as it competes with companies like Meta, Microsoft and Sony, to develop augmented reality.
