Scotland just made itself the first country to include the history of the LGBTQ community in its education curriculum.
It’s pride?️? time for every citizen that resides in Scotland for its recent activity about introducing LGBTQ history in schools.
Scotland started filling institutes with LGBTQ tools and resources on 20th September 2021. Every country all over the world is talking about Scotland these days.
People who don’t support the LGBTQ community criticise this step of Scotland, but this nation is also being appreciated by those who genuinely wanted it to happen for so long.
About the curriculum
All the universities already got the toolkit to access the LGBTQ-inclusive teaching resources. The universities are making new websites for e-materials also. There will be courses also which will be available as per specific age group.
The website will also be an open platform for the young generation who feel insecure, and they will be able to come there and share their feelings, talk to the expertise and psychiatrists who will help them process their mental health. So, this will be a safe platform for every people.
Apart from online courses and materials, the institutes of Scotland will be offering offline education to the citizens. Topics and chapters, even books about the history of the LGBTQ community, will be available in students’ academics.
Various maths problems will include gay parents and their child as an example – a girl tries to figure out how much money she needs to buy cards in Father’s Day for her dads.
Exercises will include questions about combatting discrimination in which the government hopes to reduce bullying.
What doe Swinney has to say?
The Deputy First Minister and the Education Secretary of Scotland, John Swinney, praised the historic changes after they were confirmed earlier in 2021.
Scotland has always been the most progressive country throughout Europe and globally; it is one of the safest places for the LGTBQ community.
He said, “We are the believer in inequality.”
He further added that he is so delighted for this very thing happening in Scotland’s education system and because teachers to parents to all young adults have been trying to reach out to us to help out with this new change. He said that he’s so proud of Scotland.
Scotland government is not taking this life-changing decision just by looking at it.
In 2020, a study declared that maximum British think their child must learn about the LGBTQ community. And for it to happen, social media and news media are not sufficient to grow and learn the correct information.
So, people wanted to add the history and how LGBTQ developed through ages, how it was there even centuries ago.
The survey
A world without education only makes sure to deliver you the facts but not the exact value. Protests worldwide, debates about LGBTQ topics, are becoming dangerous and harmful to today’s generation so, what would happen to our next?
Stonewall discovered that more than 65% of British citizens think teaching their children about sex variations.
Along with what is best for the LGBTQ community, it is also essential to have basic knowledge of sex, and it will reduce hate crimes, bullying, rape, etcetera.
Speaking of young people of this generation, they supported the most LGBTQ curriculum.
“Our next generation should be able to accept each person on this planet, and they shouldn’t be making the same mistakes our elders and we made.
And as we know now that we made mistakes, we need to change the way of life, and to change that, starting with education is the best choice.”
