16 Army perspnnel killed after the Army truck skidded down a steep near north sikkim, Immediate rescue has been launched.
Sixteen Army personnel, including three officers, were killed and four others injured after an Army truck skidded down a steep slope near North Sikkim on Friday. The truck was part of a 3-vehicle convoy that was moving out from Chatten in the morning towards Thangu, said the army.
A rescue mission would have been Launched immediately after the mishap and the injured were taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Army in their statement:
The Army in their statement said, “En route at Zema, the vehicle skidded down a steep slope while negotiating a sharp turn. A rescue mission was immediately launched, and four injured soldiers have been air evacuated”.
The Army also said that it stands with the bereaved families in this hour of loss.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Draupadi murmu and Defence minister Rajnath Singh condoled the loss of lives of our brave army in the accident.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said,“Deeply pained by the loss of lives of the Indian Army personnel due to a road accident in North Sikkim. The nation is deeply grateful for its service and commitment. My condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of those who are injured,”.
“Pained by the loss of lives of our brave army personnel due to a road mishap in Sikkim. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon”, Said PM Modi.
This was a hazardous accident for the Indian army today, All the wreckage was split down the hilly region. Due to the lack of infrastructure in the border areas, this kind of havoc takes place. Government must have to focus on the border area road advancement in a better way.
