Singapore reported its first spread of Covid-19.

Singapore reported its first spread of Covid-19 cases in schools.

  • Singapore reported the first case of the Covid-19 virus spread in schools because the city-state outbreak showed minor signs of abating. According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, a student at a local school contracted the virus after his classmates tested positive on Wednesday.
  • The close contact of the two students has been quarantined. Cases involving elementary school students before this month included groups originating from private learning centers. According to a report by The Straits Times on Friday, students at 30 schools have been infected in the past four weeks.
  • This week, the government suspended most school curricula and switched to learning at home due to concerns that mutations in the virus would make children more vulnerable.
  • Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at the G20 Global Health Summit last Friday that the wave after wave of Covid-19 “obviously shows that unless everyone else is safe, no country is safe in a pandemic.”
