South American champions Argentina including Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria and Paulo Dybala proved to be unbeatable at Initial Finalissima against Italy at London’s Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.
However, Angel Di Maria tried to lob Gianluigi Donnarumma before 2 minutes as the South American champions made it hard for their opponents. And till the break, Argentina was at 2-0.
Donnarumma hardly had time to be normal from denying Lionel Messi after a sparkly move when the Paris Saint-Germain man held off Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the box and centred Lautaro Martinez to flick the ball in from close range.
Roberto Mancini made three notable changes at break in his final international game, but matters did not improve.
After preventing Leonardo Bonucci’s own goal, Donnarumma had pulled off an admirable save to hook a Di Maria shot out from under his beam.
And luck seemed to be on his side when the Paris forward met a corner with a bullet-hard volley from outside the box.
While Giovani Lo Celso hitted side net and Donnarumma denied Messi 3 times, the score lines of Argentina barely extended until Paulo Dybala had showed up to finish after Messi waded.
Later, Lionel Messi – the player of the match won the trophy at Wembley Stadium for the second time in his career.
