In the last 24 hours there has been a rise in active cases with the count of 7,000, more reported and 24 deaths. CORONAVIRUS is affecting major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. As the fear of another wave rises, there are more and more patients reported per day.
The count of active cases is 36,267, while the number of recovered patients is only around 3,700. The new variables of COVID-19, BA-4 and BA-5 which are sub-variant of omicron are also felt across the country.
MIGHT BE A MINI CORONAVIRUS WAVE
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO chief scientist, told “this could be a start to another mini wave”.
She told that the sub variants of omicron that are emerging are more transferable than the original omicron BA1. There is also a possibility that it can weaken one’s immunity. She also told that there could be more mini waves every 5 or 6 months or so, hence it is important to take necessary precaution and also to keep track of the variant.
According to the latest world health organization report released on Wednesday, The number of coronavirus cases fell everywhere in the world except for southeast Asia and middle east. This report also said the confirmed active cases dropped 12% to more than 3 million and death dropped 22% to around 7,600.
To conclude, this could be a mini wave but if we don’t take necessary precaution then this could turn into a bigger and much worse situation. The cases seem to be rising exponentially without any significant increase in the recovery rates.
