PT Usha, Ilaiyaraaj, Veerendra Heggade, a philanthropist, and V. Vijayendra Prasad, a film producer, were both appointed as new members of the Upper House of Parliament.
On Wednesday, nominations were made for the position of Rajya Sabha for the film composer Ilaiyaraaja, the iconic athlete PT Usha, and the film director V Vijayendra Prasad. Veerendra Heggade, a prominent philanthropist, was also given a seat in the Upper House of Parliament upon his appointment.
Shortly after that, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, sent out a series of tweets to congratulate the prominent individuals and called them an example for every Indian to follow.
He said that despite the fact that Usha’s achievements in athletics are well known, it is as laudable that she has spent the last many years serving as a mentor to up-and-coming athletes.
Every Indian should look forward to the wonderful PT Usha Ji as a source of inspiration.
Her achievements in athletics are well-known, but what is less well-known is her work as a mentor to up-and-coming athletes over the last several years, which deserves just as much praise.
On Twitter, Modi wished her well on the occasion of her nomination to the Rajya Sabha.
PT Usha, said that she was speechless by the action made by the government and expressed her gratitude to both the Prime Minister and the President for their efforts.
The athlete made her announcement over the phone from her home in the northern part of Kerala. “I dedicate this to the sports fans of the nation.”
Regarding Ilaiyaraaja, the PM praised his creative brilliance, saying that it has captivated people from all different generations. “His paintings brilliantly portray a variety of different feelings.
His life story is similarly motivating since he came from a less fortunate background yet accomplished a great deal despite this. “I am happy to hear that he has been proposed for membership in the Rajya Sabha,” Modi tweeted.
The Prime Minister said that Prasad has had a long-standing connection to the artistic community. “His paintings have left an indelible impression on the world, and they are a shining example of India’s rich cultural heritage. “Words cannot express how happy I am for him that he has been selected for the Rajya Sabha,” he remarked.
“Shri Veerendra Heggade Ji is in the forefront of providing exemplary service to the local community. I have had the privilege of praying at the Dharmasthala Temple, and I have also seen firsthand the wonderful work that he is doing in the fields of medicine, education, and the arts.
The work of Parliament will unquestionably benefit from his presence,” the author said.
