Yashpal Arya, the transport minister of Uttarakhand, resigned from the ruling party BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and rejoined the Congress party along with his MLA son Sanjeev Arya on Monday.
Arya is the Minister of Transport of Uttarakhand and an Indian National Congress leader and member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.Â

He was voted from Mukteshwar constituency in the 2007 Uttarakhand state assembly elections and was the President of the Congress Party’s Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (Uttarakhand PCC) from 2007 through 2014.
In 2012 he was elected from the Bajpur Assembly constituency. He was thought to be the frontrunner for the chief ministerial candidature until the Congress high command made Vijay Bahuguna, son of former Uttar Pradesh CM late Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, swear into the post.
Arya joined the BJP party on January 16 2017, for the Assembly elections and was chosen as the transport minister for Uttarakhand until Monday when he decided to quit the BJP party and rejoin Congress Party again.
It was reported that former chief minister Harish Rawat was upset with Arya’s decision to back then when he joined hands with the opposition party, and there were rumours as well that all was not good between them.
But on Monday, as Harish Rawat and KC Venugopal welcomed Arya back, it was seen that the issues between Harish and Arya had been resolved, and KC Venugopal also stated that it was the happiest moment for him and a homecoming too.
The sources have also stated that one of the reasons for quitting was unhappiness due to the promotion of Dhami as the Chief Minister.
The BJP party had tried a lot to alleviate him in all the ways they could. Even Dhami himself went to Arya’s house for a breakfast meeting on September 25 when he came to know about his unhappiness towards his promotion.Â
There was a lot of news regarding Arya and his distress when Dhami was promoted as the Chief Minister, but no one ever imagined that this would be a big issue and lead to losing one of their members.
