Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are all set to release the sequel of 2001 Blockbuster film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which deals with topics like the India- Pakistan Partition. Sunny Deol expresses his views on whether his film advocates cross border relationships.
Gadar 2
Gadar 2 was announced a few months back and all audience were surprised to see Sunny Deol and Ameesha patel, who has not been in films for many years now, reunite on screen for the sequel of the 2001 blockbuster film “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”. The team is promoting their film in different cities and the release date is 11th August 2024.
The trailer of the film was released late in July and it looks promising. The story revolves around Tara Singh and Sakina’s son Jeet. Jeet is a soldier in the Indian Army and is captured by the troops from Pakistan. They torture him out of the revenge that they want to exact from his father Tara Singh. Jeet suffers at the hands of the brutal violent torture methods and Tara Singh comes back to Pakistan after 22 long years. And this time, it is to fight for his son and bring him home safely.
The patriotic tone and theme of the film is quite similar to the first film. What audience are looking for is the easter eggs in the film like the famous hand pump scene that is rumoured to have been recreated and Sunny Deol’s action sequences along with the new actor who plays his son, Jeet.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha came out in the year 2001 and is set during the era of India- Pakistan Partition era. The story revolves around Tara Singh and Sakina, a Sikh man and Muslim woman who become friends in college and eventually fall in love with each other.
The couple is stuck in the riots during partition and Sakina is led to believe that her father has been killed so she stays with Tara and they get married. They also have a son named Jeet. But after all this, Sakina comes to know that her father is very much alive and is the mayor in the city of Lahore, Pakistan.
Tara goes to meet her father thinking of reconciliation with him but is very disappointed to learn that he does not agree with her marriage to Tara Singh and wants her to get married to the man of his choice. By this time, Tara and his son enter Pakistan to bring Sakina back and realise that she is being forced to marry someone else.
They then rescue her after a series of events and are reunited in the end. This movie was very well received by the audience and people who were part of the partition and whose families have been affected by it, were deeply touched and impacted by the film. The whole team received a lot of love and appreciation for the film and it is known to be one of Sunny Deol’s best films in his career.

Cross Border Relationships
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel have been touring the country to promote their film and were asked by one of the interviewers about whether the film encourages cross border relationships. Since the film deals with cross border relationships, The interviewer took the example of Seema Haider who went to Pakistan to be with her lover, Anju.
Sunny Deol stated that his film does not necessarily encourage any cross border relationships but he sees them happening otherwise. He believes that people should be allowed to live their life the way they want to and we as people should respect their choices.
