Ekta Kapoor has registered multiple pleas against the arrest warrants asking the supreme court to intervene over her Alt Balaji web series XXX.
SC was hearing a plea where she challenged warrants issued against her web series for hurting public sentiments and promoting objectional content in her recent web series XXX that aired on the Ott platform.
The trial in Begusarai, Bihar issued a warrant for a complaint filed by an ex-serviceman Shambhu Kumar that claims the web series has demeaning featured scenes of an army officer’s wife.
According to PTI, senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi presented a plea in the court asking to provide security protection citing it to a previous matter in which they provided the same to her earlier.
In defense, they argued with the concept of freedom of speech in content creation and provided that the questionable content is subscription based too.
The bench of justice present there, Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar slagged off the matter when the attorney said the matter was filed in the Patna high court but the matter is nowhere listed to be heard soon.
The SC raged at her saying “Something has to be done. You are polluting the minds of the young generation of this country. It is available to all. OTT (Over the Top) content is available to all. What kind of choice are you providing to the people? , on the contrary, you are polluting the minds of youngsters.”
Also adding to it SC, however, stopped exerting costs and just warned her to stop filing multiple complaints as the courts are the ones whose voices were not reachable, and having access to good lawyers won’t make a difference. The court is for the common man to have justice. Thereby the court exclamation that they have seen the order and have their reservations.
In relation to the above, the apex court also apprehended the matter to be seen at the local level and kept the case on a pending basis.
