The Taiwanese defence official was on a business trip to Pingtung in Southern Taiwan, where he was discovered dead. While the reports claim he died of a heart attack, the investigation is going on to know the actual reason behind his death.
Ou Yang Li-hsing, the top Taiwanese leading official in Missile production was discovered lifeless in a hotel room on Saturday, reported a government-controlled news agency(CNA). The deputy head of the Taiwan defence ministry’s research and development unit died from a heart attack, reported state media.
The Taiwanese defence official was on a business trip to Pingtung in Southern Taiwan, when this incident happened, according to the reports. Deployed authorities are still probing to know the actual reason behind the death.
Not long ago, Ou Yang had been chosen for the post as the Deputy head of the military-owned National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology. Just the previous year, he was appointed for the post and was on the business trip when this incident occurred.
Tensions Escalation between China and Taiwan
The death of this high-order defense ministry transpired at a crucial point when under the pretext of military drills Taiwanese missiles surrounded Taiwan. “Multiple PLA craft were detected around Taiwanese Strait, some have crossed the median line,” the Ministry of National Defence said. Also, adding that in response Taiwan has deployed naval vessels and activated land-based missile systems.
It was earlier reported that a record of 68 Chinese aircraft and 13 warships had crossed the median of the Taiwanese Strait, in a report on Friday. Chinese military drills will persist until Sunday and could also be a new development for China around Taiwan, Chinese analysts claimed.
The officials of Taiwan believe it to be a “possible stimulated attack” on the Island after a senior US official, Nancy Pelosi made a visit to the island earlier. Ever since the visit, the tensions between the two countries Taiwan and China escalated.
Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island came despite severe warnings from China that in case of a US visit it would take “resolute and forceful measures to firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.” However, defying and disregarding all the cautionary measures Nancy Pelosi made a visit to the Island.
The US official visited Taiwan on August 2, also becoming the highest-ranking elected US official to visit Taiwan in over 25 years.
It’s not that Pelosi’s visit made Taiwan cautious of the future Chinese attack. Actually, the Taiwanese military was already on ‘high alert for a war’ with China. However, the activities and tensions between China and Taiwan intensified after this visit.
The visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the island enraged the Chinese officials and coerced them into immediate action.
China in Action, after Pelosi’s visit
Just the day she arrived in Taiwan, Chinese forces came into action too as the Chinese warships began approaching the Taiwan shoreline. Also, China’s aircraft carrier Shandong (CV-17) left the naval base of Sanya and Liaoning-001 raised anchor from the home base in Qingdao.
The next day after Pelosi left, Taiwan’s Defence Ministry reported that 27 Chinese fighter jets entered their air defence zone. The Chinese force approaching Taiwan comprised six J-11 fighter jets, five J-16 fighter jets and 16 SU-30 fighter jets.
China with missiles and forces surrounding Taiwan claimed that they were doing their “largest-ever” military exercises. The Chinese fleet did their military drills with 100 warplanes and 10 warships surrounding Taiwan’s main island, China’s state media reported on Friday.
The aim of the Country, China seemed to go on with military exercises for blockades and eventually invade the small democratic island.
In constant fear of attack from China, Taiwan is persistently looking for doubling it’s missile production to tackle China’s growing threat. This unfortunate incident happened midway.
