Recently, in an interview with Indian Express fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani, said “I am tired of seeing beautiful Indian clothes relegated to weddings.” This statement by him came up as a response to the question of how it was for him when things started to open up after a long loc-down during the pandemic.
He further also said, “So, we are saying, wear your saris with a pantsuit, wear your choli with a pair of palazzos and we are giving young girls and men, ideas on how to use and reuse their beautiful pieces so that it, therefore, becomes sustainable.”
He did also talk about how this kind of fashion helps people in buying less and using it more often which in turn makes fashion sustainable.
He released a luxury Pret collection of his ultra-modern outfits, he did an online fashion show under the banner of FDCI X Fashion Week and now, that the pandemic is over he is back with a physical fashion show. In this interview, he talked about all of this and more.
When asked about how it is to be back with a physical fashion show he said, “It felt absolutely fantastic to be back for a physical show, that too outdoors, against the beautiful backdrop of the Dhyan Chand Stadium and the India Gate on one side. The show was all about high energy with live music by Ma Maiza, castanets and full scores composed.”.
He was also asked about his Luxury Pret collection about which he said that he is proud of this collection, but because of the Pandemic they were not able to work on it but, now that they are back, they are coming up with new fabrics like wrinkled, tulles, poplins, lycra, sushi voile, some shaded georgette. He added saying that they have also started to experiment with different styles such as Rangrez in which they have hand-woven brocade strips on different dresses such as trousers, cholis and so on.
Luxury Pret is a collection by Tahiliani in collaboration with NEXA. The collection has a range of clothes that are Ultra-Modern, sleek and sophisticated. These dresses will be a mix of traditional and modern styles. This collection will also include drapes with tech and aerodynamic forms. The dresses in this collection range from Choli with pants, Dhoti styled long dress other such dresses.
He recently posted pictures and videos from the Lakme Fashion Week. In the picture, you can see the model wearing a traditional-modern dress from his collection. The caption talks about what this collection is about and also informs the audience that the collection will be available in their stores for people to buy from July. They did also inform how can the audience pre-book the clothes if they want to.
The video post showcases all his different designs as one can see models doing a ramp walk wearing them. The caption to this post is similar to that of the picture. The comment section of the post is filled with awe over the designs and the fans are praising him for the designs.
He recently shared three bridal looks on his Instagram handle. One of them is seen wearing a peach coloured ‘Kashida’ lehenga. Another one is seen wearing an off-white and pink Kashida design lehenga which has been paired with a Chikankari chiffon dupatta. The third one is also seen wearing a Kashida design lehenga which is pink in colour. The comment section of all three posts is filled with beautiful comments. Some of the fans have dropped fire or heart emojis to show love.
