Taylor Swift drops a new video for her album Midnights track “Lavender Haze.”

Swift wrote and directed the video, which dropped on Friday. A record can be heard playing in the background while the singer and her lover are seen lying in bed. A cloud looms over her head as she sits up, and the moment she lights a match, a menacing “haze” fills the space. Swift is seen in her living room as she sings, “All they keep asking me is if I’m going to be your bride/The only sort of girl they see is a one-night stand or a wife,” while listening to her lover’s weather report on television.

She approaches the television, takes it apart to expose a cosmic aquarium, and soon she is swimming in an actual sea of lavender as the room fills with it. Swift cuddles in a cloud while a fish swims toward her, with the ending scenes showing her dancing and cuddling with friends in a room.

In a teaser trailer made up of snippets from all the music videos she produced for Midnights, Swift initially gave fans a sneak peek at the “Lavender Haze” video. The first video to air was “Anti-Hero,” a controversial piece that sought to convey the singer’s difficulties with compulsive eating, among other things, but drew criticism for using the word “fat” in place of scale numbers.

Swift released the dazzling video for “Bejeweled,” a self-love song packed with empowering statements, after brushing off the criticism. She adopts the character of Cinderella in the video. Her cruel stepsisters are played by Haim, and her terrible stepmother is played by Laura Dern. Swift stuns the audience at a talent contest, including the prince she charmed before ghosting him entirely, with Dita Von Teese acting as her fairy godmother.

Dern, the HAIM sisters, Von Teese, Jack Antonoff, Mike Birbiglia, Pat McGrath, and other celebrities have all appeared in the Midnights track ‘Bejewelled’ music video as special guests.

What is the meaning behind Taylor Swift’s song “Lavender Haze”?

Finally Taylor Swift released the music video for “Lavender Haze.” But what does the song signify, and what do the lyrics mean?

Taylor Swift seems to be singing about a lover in the song “Lavender Haze.” “I’ve been under scrutiny, and you handle it beautifully , but all this sh*t is new to me,” the singer says. “And I find it dizzying.” “They’re bringing up my history, but you weren’t even listening.” The song’s lyrics are reminiscent of Taylor’s song “Delicate,” in which she speaks about Joe Alwyn ignoring the unfavorable publicity surrounding her.

Taylor continues, “I feel the lavender haze creepin’ up on me,” in the chorus. “I feel the lavender haze creepin’ up on me. Surreal, “I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say,” “No deal,” “The 1950s sh*t they want from me,” and “I just wanna stay in that lavender haze.”

Taylor shared a reel about “Lavender Haze” on Instagram and wrote, “I came across the phrase “lavender haze” when I was watching Mad Men. It turns out that it was a common phrase used in the 1950s to simply describe being in love. I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool.

“I thought that was really beautiful,” Taylor continued. “If you were in the lavender haze, then that meant that you were in that all-encompassing love glow.”

“I guess hypothetically, when you’re in the lavender haze, you’ll do anything to stay there and not let anyone drag you off of that cloud” Taylor remarked, elaborating on how it ties to her song.

Since we live in the social media age and the world will weigh in if they learn you’re in love with someone, I believe many individuals now have to cope with this. She continues explaining the song.

Taylor said, “Like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to avoid odd rumors and tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it. The act of disregarding that crap in order to preserve the true stuff is what this song is about.”

American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album, Midnights, was released on October 21, 2022, by Republic Records.
