In the last week, a BJP member of Parliament and his state president were detained at the border of Karauli as they attempted to go to the city, which has been ravaged by violence for some time.
On April 2, 2022, Surya and Poonia were on their way to meet the people who had been hurt in an accident in Karauli. They were joined by hundreds of party members. After being detained, the two and their supporters staged a sit-in protest at the border, where police used force to remove them and imprison Surya, Poonia, and other BJP members.
BJP members were “dispersed by civil force by Section 129 of the Criminal Procedure Code (dispersal of an assembly by civil force),” Shailendra Singh said.
Surya, who is also the national head of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), arrived in Jaipur at the crack of dawn on Wednesday morning. In an interview with the media, he stated: “Previously, we had heard about Lalu Prasad’s “jungle raj,” but now we are seeing Ashok Gehlot’s “jungle raj.” The BJP and the BJYM will fight against this jungle raj with an unwavering commitment. And we will intensify our opposition to it shortly. “
He accused Gehlot of engaging in “politics of conciliation,” and stated that “the situation of the victims of Karauli violence is quite serious. Surya also spoke to a guy who had been hurt during the Karauli protests and was now receiving treatment at the SMS hospital in Jaipur.
Intercommunal violence broke out in Karauli, India, on April 2, 2022, after stone-throwing was reported during a motorcycle rally through a Muslim-dominated neighborhood on the Hindu new year, Nav Samvatsar. This led to the destruction of stores and cars.
Following the incident, the city is put under a curfew, which District Magistrate Rajendra Singh says will last until 7 a.m. on Thursday, the time when the curfew will supposedly end. Three groups have already had permission to go inside. Two of them are from the BJP, and one is from Congress.
BJP’s Vasundhara Raje, a former chief minister of Rajasthan, was granted permission on Tuesday to visit the shops that had been destroyed in the violence, as well as speak with some of those who had been hurt and their families, and also with those people who had been detained by the police.
Before that, on April 5, 2022, Congress sent three members of a “fact-finding” committee to the region. They were MLAs Jitendra Singh and Rafeek Khan, as well as the head of the Pradesh Congress Committee, Lalit Yadav.
A team from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), headed by Deputy Leader of the Opposition Rajendra Rathore, paid a visit to the site on the same day.
When asked whether further delegations would be authorized to go to Karauli, SP responded in the affirmative. Shailendra Singh said that the other delegations had all received permission from the local authorities. In addition, each of the delegations had just a few people.
According to Section CrPC 144, there is now a curfew in existence, and groups of five or more people are not allowed to enter the area at any time, Singh explained. Around 250-300 members of the BJP planned to drive themselves to the event.
Lakya Suryanarayana Tejasvi Surya is the youngest leader of Bhartiya Janta Party. Initially a lawyer by profession, Surya became a Member of Parliament from the Bangalore South Constituency in the 17th Lok Sabha.
