Finding out about the unusual names on the TET merit list aroused an urge among attorneys, and they raised an issue at the Calcutta High Court, prompting the court to verify the accuracy of the names.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about TET
Dilip Ghosh and Sujan Chakraborty scored 92 marks while Suvendu Adhikari hit a perfect 100 in the TET examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education( WBBPE). As the reclamation fiddle disquisition of the State accelerates, a merit list with the names of prominent West Bengal politicians including Partha Chatterjee, Abhishek Banerjee and further created a drift, on Monday.
The list also included the name of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The issue of the unusual names was raised by a group of lawyers before Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the Calcutta High Court, and they urged the Court to ascertain whether these names are applicable to candidates who actually appeared in the examination or not. According to the attorneys, the names were part of the merit list of TET( Teachers Eligibility Test) which was conducted by the WBBPE in 2014 and which has been released lately.
The matter comes to the attention of the Calcutta High Court when there’s an asymmetry in the hearing of cases related to recruitment scams in the state. Sharing the list of campaigners securing marks on social media, state BJP chairman Sukanta Majumdar raised the issue. This is the level of education and assessment in West Bengal. Corruption is high, and education and assessment are poor. Sad state of affairs. When did (will) @MamataOfficial stop playing with the lives of candidates? “he tweeted.
The chairman of WBBPE, Gautam Pal, said there was nothing wrong with the list and the names were those of genuine candidates. The chairman of the WB TET Exam stated that the controversy was created to defame the state and its recognized people. Meanwhile, Partha Chatterjee’s solicitation for bail, along with that of the other seven accused in the reclamation fiddle has been declined by the city court. They won’t be getting bail, till November 28.
Though the city court rejected the bail it sought to know from the probing agencies how much time they will take to complete the investigation. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a leaning reference to the allegations of irregularities in the reclamation process said that only those who work commit mistakes.
“Only those who work commit mistakes. Don’t we stumble while walking”, Ms. Banerjee said. The Chief Minister added that a conspiracy is being hatched against the state and that the ruling Trinamool Congress is being defamed as a part of the exercise. However, one should be given a chance to rectify those mistakes, she said. “ However, the law will take its own course, if someone got involved in any wrongdoing. But a media trial is going on” she added.
