From Balenciaga to Vogue Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour, all significant figures in the fashion industry have had enough of Kanye West’s controversies, rude commentary and misbehavior.
The boycott and sanction of Kanye West
Kanye West manages to position himself on the front page headlines once again. The American Rapper/Designer is notorious for making bold statements and putting himself in the spotlight, albeit, not always for the good reasons. Wherever Kanye West or Ye goes, controversy seems to follow him.
Balenciaga, the French luxury Fashion brand has finally made its decision to permanently split ways with Kanye West. In a most recent statement, Balenciaga concluded that it would stop working with Kanye West, thus, becoming the first fashion brand to officially terminate its connection to Kanye West.
The fashion house will no longer be entertaining the American Rapper/Designer and there will be no more collaborations or partnerships between the two.
All of this escalation is due to the American Rapper/designer’s recent remarks that proved prejudiced and discriminatory against the Jews.
Kanye West’s anti-Semitic views on Twitter has astounded and shook the entire Hollywood industry leaving most of them, with no choice but to speak out and condemn him for his inappropriate conduct and actions.
Even the fashion industry has grown tiresome of Kanye’s controversies and lack of empathy.
Balenciaga’s parent company Kering spoke about the business relationship they have with Kanye West. The company stated that it does not have any ties or connection to the artist anymore and that present ties between the company and Kanye West have been terminated for good.
According to forbes.com, as reported by the Business of Fashion and Women’s Wear Daily, the company or the fashion house does not wish to continue working with Kanye West anymore and has no plans whatsoever to partner with him on any project again in the future.
Kanye West apparently had a close relationship with Demna Gvasalia, the Head of Balenciaga. During Paris Fashion Week, Kanye West modeled for Balenciaga.
When West made his fashion line debut with “White Lives Matter” shirts, Gvasalia attended the fashion show in support of him.
The fashion brand and Kanye West or Ye had a collaboration with retailer Gap on his not so prominent fashion line,Yeezy. Kanye West, however, decided to permanently suspend the partnership just last month with Gap and made an accusation of contractual breach committed by the retail company.
Kanye West’s perpetual rant and horrendous anti-Semitic commentary has been going on since October.
West has been using social media platforms and interviews to convey his degrading remarks and opinions concerning Jews and also The Black Lives Matter campaign.
Even the German multinational corporation brand, Adidas, is contemplating ending their partnership with Kanye West in light of recent happenings and plans to examine the partnership with the American Rapper that they’ve had for nine years.
Adidas has been advised to cut off ties with Kanye West by the Anti-Defamation League. Ari Emaneul, who is the CEO of Endeavour has demanded that all companies that have ties or connections to Kanye West must terminate it with immediate effect.
Vogue has also, reportedly, broken its association with Kanye West following news of the American Rapper/Designer abominable anti-semitic assertions.
Another cause that led to the ostracization of the Vogue and its Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour, is Kanye West’s support and proclamation for the White Lives Matter campaign.
According to a news report, Anna Wintour, like most other public persons, “has had enough” of Kanye’s misconduct and problematic behavior. Apparently, it is stated that Kanye West is not a member of Anna Wintour’s “inner circle” anymore.
Neither Vogue, the fashion magazine nor Anna Wintour desire any sort of association with Kanye West anymore.
The Editor-In-Chief has made her decision of not following and supporting West after making such vile claims, insulting and hurting a lot of people’s sentiments belonging to the Jewish Community.
Kanye West and Anna Wintour seemed to have had a good relationship that has lasted for almost a decade. This friendship is now in jeopardy.
An industry insider reported that the Editor-In-Chief no longer vouches for Kanye West and has clarified that he no longer has a home inside the walls of Vogue.
