The Supreme Court of our nation in the curriculum of law and order is one of the apex bodies, that administers to keep track of what all is happening all around, apart from the other bodies present at the representation. It is the court that has the charge of promising people equal justice under law, and thereby has the role of being a guardian and an interpreter of the constitution.
In the latest updates, it has been observed that the Supreme Court asks the centre to give or state them an exact number about the number of women appearing in the latest NDA exam for the ongoing year 2022. The court has also asked for a record of the previous year about the number of women who appeared in the 2021 NDA examination.
A bench of justices from the supreme court has also asked Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, why the number of women as counted 19 has been fixed for this year examination of 2022 when after getting a notification from the UPSC.
The court officials are in their full preparation to question the centre that last year the number of women were less because it mentioned the reason of infrastructural problems. But again this year the number of women appearing for the upcoming examination has been fixed, which is again very less.
The court to demand an answer from the centre has given them three weeks to file an affidavit and have also asked the parties to file their rejoinder in 2 weeks and have furthermore listed this important issue for further hearing on an allocated date.
After taking a note about all these discussions, a list was also investigated wherein it mentioned the total number of vacancies for the candidates to apply in the 2021 examination, and what percentage of women would be joining in for which department as in Navy or army after getting qualified. The list for the upcoming 2022 examination was also read to understand the state of the situation in dept and with full transparency.
A senior advocate named Chinmoy Pradip Sharma stated that it has been observed after reading the examination notice that the number of women candidates would remain the same for the examination as fixed at 19, and would also remain the same for the upcoming year 2024.
He also mentioned a fact that the reason as earlier stated for the previous examination regarding the intake of women at a fixed number of 19 is not only about the infrastructural problems but also about the requirement of defence forces.
He lastly mentioned that probably if possible then shortly an affidavit would be filed stating the reasons about the number of women to be appointed for different jobs, and also about the total number of women to be appearing for the NDA examination, one of the prestigious exams taking place worldwide, placing several people at respectable and well-attained jobs.
In response to what the supreme court has asked from the centre, the court has stated that in this year meeting about making certain changes in the decisions taken out for the examination purpose. They would assure to take the necessary measures to bring about a change in the system of taking up women for further vacancies in this field of navy or army after clearing the NDA exam.
Thus, by keeping a note of all the issues regarding the admission of females in the NDA department services, hope has been developed that in this years discussion, there could be certain changes that could give the females a better chance to be in the limelight and to also represent themselves at the forefront amongst all the male representatives.
