Following a five-game winning streak, the Gujarat Titans have lost their previous two games to clubs from the bottom half of the table. The Mumbai Indians teased the Punjab Kings until the very end before grabbing a surprise victory.Â
Rashid statementÂ
Rashid was asked if a defeat like this would cause the camp to doubt itself. “Certainly,” said the vice-captain. “We finished 4-5 matches after being in a similar situation where we needed runs.” T20 cricket is unique in that you can get 20 off six on some days and only 10 off six on others.Â
Rashid said , we played well throughout the game. From where they started, we made a good turnaround. The two run-outs were game-changing moments. If you only need 8-9 in the last over, it’s doable. The beauty of T20 cricket is that all it takes is one outstanding strike to win. Getting nine out of six balls can be challenging at times, but getting nine out of two balls is easy. We apply what we’ve learned and move forward “added the playerÂ
The three destructive bowlersÂ
Rashid has 11 wickets in as many games, putting him third on the team in terms of wicket-taking after Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson. It’s understandable, given that most teams would prefer to leave Rashid alone rather than attack him. The legspinner has kept his economy rate low and claimed that he is unconcerned about a lack of wickets as long as other bowlers get them.Â
The focus that I need to bowl wellÂ
“Taking wickets while bowling in T20s is always exhilarating. For me, it’s a little different. I’m constantly thinking about the economy and how important it is for me to bowl well. The batters are put under more pressure when I bowl economically. The wickets will be delivered from the opposite end.” He made an important point. “Yes, I’ve taken fewer wickets this season than in previous IPL seasons, but not by much. The wicket difference is 2-3. Three or four wickets will be needed. I didn’t bowl as well as I could have in a few games, but that’s T20 cricket. You have a lot to learn, and all I can do is give it my all “He kept going.Â
Introspection Titans Â
The Titans have depended on a number of individuals to help them get out of tight situations in some really difficult chases thus far. The bowlers have shown up to help the team win when they’ve finished on par. The Titans have a few small issues, but the game versus Mumbai set a solid precedent for them going forward. It emphasized their strengths while also noting that they are making progress in areas where they need to.Â
AS a group you need to focusÂ
It’s all about learning for the Titans and keeping the momentum continuing to the conclusion. Two losses in a row won’t hurt them as long as they can smooth out some of the rough edges that have shown. Rashid continued, “You have to learn from such events.” “We’ll now concentrate as a group on that. We must now try to avoid making the same mistakes we made early in the campaign. This is a good learning curve for us. If we ever find ourselves in this situation, we must focus on finishing the games.” Â
