Apple’s AR/VR headsets to give users a premium viewing experience
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality headsets have seen a huge growth in demand as the digital world progresses towards exceptional achievements. It has become a way for people to connect to the world around them in a different and unique way.
All major tech companies are on the path of establishing their foothold in the AR/VR headsets market. For example, Meta is currently working on creating a three-dimensional digital space famously called the metaverse.
Apple’s headset will focus on both virtual reality and augmented reality, unlike Apple’s glasses which will focus only on augmented reality and are rumored to come out in 2025.
Design-wise, the headsets will be quite similar to the ones currently available in the market. Apple’s mixed reality headset will come equipped with two 4K micro OLED displays, which will allow the users for a premium viewing experience.
The headsets will also reportedly have more than a dozen cameras attached to the headset in order to track movements and gestures along with an eye-tracking device. Such advanced features will allow the headsets users to interact with the mixed reality environment efficiently.
Tim Cook on the path of creating his own legacy
There have been reports of internal conflict between the operations team and the design team of Apple regarding the launch of their latest technology.
The design team is reportedly not yet satisfied with the design of the headset and is urging the company to push back the launch date. According to the design team at Apple, the headsets are heavy, bulky, and overall not yet optimized enough for a smooth user experience. The team wants to wait until a lightweight AR glasses product is fully designed.
On the other hand, the operations team is eager to get the headset into the market as soon as possible. The operations team believes that AR glasses are a deeply complex project that will take years into making and the company cannot afford to fall behind in the AR/VR headset market.
CEO Tim Cook and COO Jeff Williams are on the same page as the operations team and want to release the mixed-reality headsets as soon as possible, even if it is not yet on par with the design team’s expectations.
Apple has seen tremendous growth under the leadership of Tim Cook. The AR/VR headsets will be the first completely new platform designed under the leadership of Tim Cook. The decision to move ahead with the launch in 2024 is being seen as a way for Cook to establish his own legacy and have his own unique contribution to Apple’s ecosystem
