Team Israel garners Indian fans after performing to Aaja Nachle in their swimming routine at the Tokyo Olympics 2021
Team Israel’s duo swimmers, Eden Blecher and Shelly Bobritsky brought Bollywood to the Olympics as they performed Madhuri Dixit Nene’s Aaja Nachle song in a part of their swimming routine.
However, the pair finished 15th and failed to qualify for the 12-team artistic swimming final; their choice of music splashed waves more than anyone.
The Indian netizens went crazy on Twitter, and some expressed their feelings of gratitude for the feature.
“OMG Aaja Nachle in a swimming sequence? Count me in! #TokyoOlympics2021 #Israel” wrote one user.
Israel’s Twitter handle in Mumbai (@israelinMumbai) tweeted, “Bollywood is taking over the @Olympics as #Israeli Flag of Israelswimmers Eden Blecher and Shelly Bobritsky perform to Madhuri Dixit’s ‘Aaja Nachle’ at #TokyoOlympics2020.
@MadhuriDixit how did you like the performance?”.
The tweet was seconded by Israel in India handle: “Israel loves #Bollywood and the performance by our @Olympics swimmers Eden Blecher and Shelly Bobritsky to @MadhuriDixit’s ‘Aaja Nachle’ at #TokyoOlympics is the shining example of it.”
Madhuri’s Aaja Nachle is one of the soundtracks from the 2007 Bollywood musical/dance hit film of the same name.
The Bollywood takeover has gone viral on the internet as choosing the music for synchronised and artistic swimming comes as a challenge.
Team Israel may not have wooed the judges, but they have received the attention of the Indian media.
