In a shocking incident in Maharashtra’s Sangli 9 people of the same family were found dead under mysterious circumstances, police suspect it to be a suicide
In an incident that has left every one of Sangli in shock, nine members of a family were found dead in two different houses which are a short distance away from each other. The incident was reported on the evening of Monday, in which the police have recovered a suicide note, which led them to believe that it was a case of suicide. The police are digging further into the matter and are conducting an inquiry about it.
According to the Sangli police, the unfortunate incident was reported at around 1.30 pm on Monday. After the investigation about the happening started it has come to the notice of the police, that Manik Vhanmore (49) and his brother Popat Vhanmore (52) used to stay in different residences less than a kilometer away from each other with their respective spouses and children, while their mother lived with Manik and his family.
On Monday, when locals noticed that no one from the entire family was stepping out of either house since morning, out of concern the local people tried checking on them. After constantly ringing bells and knocking on doors with no response from inside the neighbors called the police control room. The information was passed to the Miraj Rural police station after which the teams of police rushed to both houses.
The police entered the house by breaking the doors and found out that all nine members were lying lifeless on the floor of both houses. They were all taken to the nearby hospital, where they were declared dead.
The Inspector General of Police Manoj Kumar Lohiya said: “ There are no external injuries on any of the bodies, and we are awaiting reports of the post-mortem examination, which will let us know both the time and the cause of death”
Apart from Manik and Popat, the rest has been identified as the wife of Manik Rekha (54), daughter Anita (28), and son Aditya (15); wife of Popat Sangeeta (48), daughter Archana (30), and son Shubham (28); and mother of both Manik and Popat, Akkatai (72).
The police searched for clues in both the houses and found a suicide note in the residence of Manik, based on which inquiries are currently going on.
The Superintendent of Police (Sangil) Dikshit Gedam said; “ There are certain claims in the note and some people have also been named. However, we need to verify the contents of the note before we can comment any further. Investigations are underway in this regard”.
The police are now getting in touch with relatives and friends of the deceased to verify the contents of the suicide note as well as to find out about more people involved in it.
The sudden and mass suicide of the Vhanmore family has kept the entire residents of the Sangli district in shock.
