Trent Boult was selected by New Zealand for the ODI series against Australia before the T20 World Cup. Boult resigned from his central contract in order to spend more time with his family.
Despite terminating his central contract in August 2022, New Zealand bowler Trent Boult wants to continue representing his country. The left-arm bowler hoped that this was not the last Test match he would play for his nation. In a statement made prior to the three-match ODI series against Australia, Boult stated he would take each week as it comes and see where it leads.
Trent Boult is aware that his choice to end his central contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) earlier this month may “affect” his ability to be selected for Test matches. But he believes he hasn’t yet played his final game in the long format.
New Zealand will play two Tests in Pakistan in December 2022 and January 2024. They will host England in February 2024. A day-night match will be featured in Mount Maunganui. They will also host Sri Lanka in March.
Boult, on the other hand, is set to miss the Pakistan tour owing to T20 league obligations elsewhere. He is one of 12 players awarded platinum status in Australia’s BBL draught. The draught costs AU$340,000 to enter. The BBL starts on December 13, and the group stage lasts through January 25. Boult has also agreed to play for MI Emirates in the UAE-based ILT20. The league will take place between January and February.
In previous international competitions, New Zealand has been a formidable opponent. With the T20 World Cup coming up in October, Boult stated that he and the squad are really eager to try again.Â
Boult has retained his position for New Zealand’s upcoming task, the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy in Australia, which will feature three ODIs. Australia defeated the Kiwi team in the 2021 competition’s championship game.
Boult, 33, reaffirmed that his main motivation for terminating his central contract and beginning “life after cricket” was to spend more time with his wife and three children.
