Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar Box Office Collection: The Shraddha Kapoor-Ranbir Kapoor starrer enters the 100 crore club, becoming the only 8th Romantic Comedy to reach the milestone. The movie continues to get the numbers on its 11th day in theatres.
TJMM enters Day 11: The movie has had a bombastic run on the box office. The first week business showed peak numbers, followed by a comparatively slow week amid four new releases, the numbers still climbed high. It is on its 10th day in the theatres that the movie entered the 100 crore club.
The film was released on Holi which was a holiday, and had a bumper opening. On the first five days, it had an impressive run in theatres and continued to bag high numbers on the collection charts. On the first Monday, its collection bagan to slow. Nevertheless, the Luv Ranjan movie has now become a member of the 100 crore club, closing at 109.14 Cr on Day 10.
On Sunday, Film Trade Analyst, Joginder Tuteja, tweeted to notify that the movie has crossed the milestone of 100 Crore. He wrote, “#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar has entered the 100 Crore Club. Accomplishes the feat in 11 days.”
Movies like Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar’ and Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer ‘Pathaan’ have worked as a relief to both the audiences and bollywood after movies like Kartik Aryan’s ‘Shehzaada’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Selfiee’ failed on the box office. With the reviews describing the Rom-com as “Dhuandhaar” and “A breath of fresh air”, it is set to become one of the gems that bollywood gives out this year.
The movie has also become the only 8th Bollywood Romantic Comedy to reach this milestone. Earlier, most movies which have earned over 100 Crore at the Box Office have been predominantly focused on action, or romance such as Pathaan, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion, Dangal and KGF: Chapter 2. Not many movies from the Rom-Com genre have been able to gross that high.
Tu jhoothi Mai Makkar has become the 8th such movie following other highly grossing Rom-Coms such as Bala (117 Crore), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (152 Crore), Dream Girl (142 Crore), Badrinath Ki Dulhania (116 Crore), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (109 Crores), De De Pyaar De (103 Crores), and Ranbir starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (188 Crores).
This movie comes as Ranbir Kapoor’s second consecutive hit after his previous blockbuster ‘Brahmastra- Part 1: Shiva’ which became the highest grossing Bollywood movie of 2022, collecting net Rs. 257 Crore on the domestic box office. Besides these two films, Ranbir has four other over ₹100 crore films including Barfi, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Sanju. He recently finished shooting for Animal, which will be packed with stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
Shraddha Kapoor has also earlier been part of five 100 Crore grossers including Ek Villian, Stree, Saaho, Chhichhore and ABCD 2. She also starred opposite Varun Dhawan in Bhediya which failed to draw audiences. She is now going to begin shooting for Stree 2.
