If voters “make a mistake,” Uttar Pradesh might become Kashmir, Kerala, or Bengal; Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned only hours before the state’s first round of elections, pushing people to vote for the BJP.
Yogi Adityanath also declared in a video published on Twitter by the Uttar Pradesh BJP that voting for the BJP will be “a guarantee of free life.”Â
Today, 58 seats in the state’s western region, the epicenter of an 11-month farmers’ strike, will vote. CM Adityanath said in the video.
“I have to tell you something that is there in my heart. A lot of wonderful things have happened in these five years. Beware! If you miss, the labor of these five years will be spoiled. It would not take much time for Uttar Pradesh to become Kashmir, Kerala, and Bengal.” Â
In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi is seeking re-election, with former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party as a primary opponent. On March 10, the elections result from sections in Uttar Pradesh and four other states will be published.Â
The first phase of the elections saw a voter turnout of 35% until 1 pm. According to the Election Commission, the average voter turnout across constituencies was recorded as follows: Agra (36.93%), Aligarh (32.07%), Baghpat (38.01%), Bulandshahar (37.03%), Gautam Buddha Nahar (30.53%), Ghaziabad (33.40%), Hapur (39.97%), Mathura (36.26%), Meerut (34.51%), Muzaffarnagar (35.73%), Shamli (41.16%), etc.
The first phase of the seven-phase UP elections began on Thursday.Voting is currently underway in 58 constituencies across 11 districts.There are 623 contestants in the race and 2.27 crore eligible voters.Among the notable contestants in the first round of polling is Pankaj Singh, the son of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.The election result will be announced on March 10.
