Upgraded Vande Bharat Express broke the record of Japanese bullet trains by going to 100 km/hr in just 52 seconds.
New Delhi: Vande Bharat Express runs only two times since its launch one from New Delhi to Varanasi and the second from New Delhi to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The high-speed train has broken the record of the Japanese Bullet Train by achieving a speed of 100 kmph in mere 52 seconds.

The New Vande Bharat train also known as Train-18 is quite different from the previous two versions as this time it will have aircraft-style seats which provide better sitting and reclining comfort. Also, the time taken by the New Vande Bharat Train to reach the speed of 160 kmph is 140 seconds, compared to 145 seconds earlier.
Upgraded Vande Bharat Express
For better safety and a Better Travel experience, many features were added in Upgraded Vande Bharat: –
- For safety and easier evacuation for passengers in case of unforeseen incident emergency Four windows have been added in every coach.
- One big safety addition in Vande Bharat will be the Aboriginal system called Kavach. This is like an automatic train safety system to avoid collisions between trains. As Kavach prevents the train from passing the signal at Red (Danger) by automatically activating the train brake system which helps avoid a collision.
- Better heat ventilation and air conditioning control by using higher efficiency compressors with UV lamps to make sure a free supply of air.
- There is also a change in the formation of the train with a non-driving trailer coach in the middle. This will be better for acceleration and deceleration of the train like an EMU.
- Upgraded Vande Bharat contains an infotainment system of 32 inches in every coach unlike the previous versions of trains containing 24 inches screens with better passenger information.
- Better Coach Control Management System on Upgraded Vande Bharat be made for monitoring the air-conditioning, and communication and providing feedback to control Center/maintenance staff through GSM/GPRS.
- The Upgraded Vande Bharat coaches will have level-2 safety interrogation for better train control, and for better fire safety Fire detection system is based on an aerosol fire suppression system in all coaches instead of the normal smoke detection system.
- Two Signal exchange lights have been installed on the coaches for the exchange of signals with stations. There will also be a Separate ventilation duct against the traction motor part.
- The driver-guard will come with a voice recording facility. There will also be class 3 and 4 surges instead of class 1 and class 2 surges for Electrical Safety.
- Four emergency lights were provided in each coach for powering lights in case of all electronic connections fail to operate. The previous versions did not have emergency lights, The self-propelled Vande Bharat said to have a backup of 3 hours unlike previous versions with 1 hour.
Upgraded Vande Bharat Breaking Record
The self-propelled engine generates 6000 horsepower, and every coach has its engine. The Vande Bharat Express recently beat the Japanese Bullet Train whose record was 100 kmph in 55 seconds and by going 100 kmph in mere 52 seconds.
A video was shared by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw showing the stability of a fast-moving train without spilling a glass of water filled to the brim moved from 0 to 180 kmph noted by a speedometer application in mobile.
Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma called it a “Proud Moment” and expressed his happiness on Twitter by posting Ashwini Vaishnaw’s tweet.
In Ashwini Vaishnaw’s tweet he is seen talking about a video with a glass of water filled to brim and not spilling even at the speed of 180 kmph and talking about the record broken by “Our Vande Bharat”.
