As the counting for the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2022 that took place in Uttarakhand on the 14th February is going on, The Bhartiya Janta Party is seen taking a lead by bagging majority of the seats out of the 70-constituency state. Harish Rawat of the congress is seen trailing behind with 22 seats. The Aam Admi Party can be seen giving up with the voting electorate being in single digits.
According to election statistics, the BJP has a commanding lead in Uttarakhand, with its candidates leading in 43 assembly seats and the main opposition Congress leading in 24. In Khatima, however, the BJP’s Pushkar Singh Dhami is lagging the Congress’ Bhuwan Chandra Kapri. The BSP leads in one seat, while the Independents lead in two.
The state is facing a three-cornered battle between the incumbent Pushkar Singh Rawat, congresses harish Rawat and the Aam Admi Party (AAP). All the parties have been seen using various tactics to Voo the voters. The main agenda of

Background
The Bhartiya Janta party won the Uttarakhand chief mistrial elections in the year 2017 with a securing a total of 57 votes out of 70. The voter turnout for that year is 65.64 percent. The party was not confident about its win for this year’s poll be because of its controversial decisions of the past. It had to change the state’s chief minister for three times over the period of four years.
If the current trends, which show the BJP lead on 44 seats, convert into final results then the party will break the two-decade old political trend in Uttarakhand and will become the first one to form two consecutive governments which is a record in its self.
