MS Dhoni scored a welcoming fifty in the IPL 2022 opener against KKR. The last time he scored a fifty in IPL was three years ago.
The opening match of IPL 2022 between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders brought to a great start with Vintage Dhoni scoring an unbeaten 50 off 38 balls at Wankhede on Saturday night.
The 40-year-old becomes the oldest Indian to score a fifty in the history of IPL. The last time he marked a fifty was against RCB in April 2019. He then was still playing international matches for India, the last that turned out to be in ODI World Cup later that year.

“Thala is back” announced the big screen, as he took command of the ship, not as a captain but as an anchor with his successor Ravindra Jadeja to post a struggling total of 131 against Shreyas Iyer’s Knights. Ravindra Jadeja who was captained in his first match for CSK scored 26* off 28 balls.
Dhoni delivered the first 15 runs in 25 balls later went on to hit power shots of 35 runs in 13 deliveries with seven fours and a six in his knock last night. This called for celebration already amongst fans as they saw Vintage Dhoni starting the season on a high note.
The Knights defeated Yellow Army by 6 wickets and 9 balls yet in hand but fans stormed Twitter with flattering reactions on Dhoni’s knock last night.
